Manu Sharma’s NGO applauded by Delhi HC

he Delhi High Court has appreciated the work done by Siddhartha Vashishta Charitable Trust (SVCT), an NGO run by Manu Sharma, for facilitating the rehabilitation of the children of jail inmates. The court has specifically praised the organisation for ensuring the proper care of three minor girls of a Tihar jail inmate, Ramher.

The court took note of the progress of the children in the last one year. The NGO was given the responsibility of the girls and the court was satisfied with the progress of the girls who had dropped out of school seven to eight years ago after their mother's death and after their father was sent to jail.

SVCT took charge of the girls aged 15, 14 and 11 on being approached by the jail's law officer Sunil Kumar Gupta and advocate Anu Nirula, the court-appointed guardian of the three girls.

"We put on record our appreciation of the role of the said NGO known as Siddhartha Vashishta Charitable Trust, Sunil K Gupta, law officer, Tihar Jail, Ms Anu Nirula, advocate, who have undoubtedly done a commendable job," noted the HC bench of Justice Kailash Gambhir and Justice Indermeet Kochar, hearing the plea of convict Ramher.

The trust, which was set up by Manu Sharma in 2010, has helped rehabilitate and educate 467 children of jailed convicts till now.
