Singin’ in the Rain

ife in Delhi comes to a standstill after a heavy bout of rain. The roads everywhere get waterlogged, while traffic jams get so long and intricate, they end up making front-page news. And yet, amid this watery mess, the city seems infused with an added charm during the monsoon season. There’s a palpable freshness in the air, and all things partake of this spirit of renewal. The average Delhi-wallah, of course, will forever crib about the season, but even he (secretly) loves it when the heavens finally open. Because the sound of rainfall in this city rings in sweet counterpoint to the punishing tune of the Delhi summer. And one can’t be thankful enough for it.
