Indian footballer, Robin Singh could not play in the ISL after Bangalore FC withdrew from the tournament citing issues between the Sun Group and the tournament's organisers. Singh told The Sunday Guardian that he was not disappointed in missing out on ISL and would like to take part next in the tournament next year.

Singh praised the efforts the ISL has taken to promote football in India. He also believes the I-League would reap the benefits of a successful ISL.

"Thanks to the ISL, football is coming up in India. It will bring in more players to the I-League and make it bigger and better. I do not regret missing out on ISL, but I regret not playing football."

Singh believes in the coming years football will become a very popular sport in India. "I think football will take over cricket," he said.

Speaking about his compatriots taking part in ISL, Singh said that it was a good platform for them and they would gain a lot of experience playing in the tournament. "I haven't met them in a while. Hope to meet them in the I-league."

Singh is currently training with his Bangalore FC teammates who were the winners of the I-League last season. "At the moment, I'm preparing for the Durand Cup and then there is the I-league. I will be aiming to win all the tournaments. I don't like losing."

Singh, who spent his initial years in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was a keen cricketer until he discovered his real passion – football. "It was an easy choice for me. My grandfather was a footballer. The game runs in my family, and honestly cricket was getting a bit boring," he said.

His first goal for India has been the highlight of his international career. It was a 90th minute winner against the Chinese Taipei national football team in the Asian Football Confederation Cup last year. "It was amazing experience to score that goal. I have to admit, I have been showing off a bit with that goal.

I have watched that goal again and again. It is the best day of my life. You love scoring for your country," he said.
