Unleash the writer in you, anonymously!
SHWETA SHARMA  26th Aug 2012

hanks to the success of Facebook, Twitter, etc, the Internet is exploding with more joining the fray. A recent addition is Writer Babu, a social network for writers and bloggers. Launched in December 2011, this website "lets you share your weirdest dream to your wildest fantasy, your secret crush to a fatal breakup, mischievous ideas to a philosophical gyaan, college nostalgia to office gossip. Reveal a secret, make a confession, or just express your take on anything under the sun". With anonymity as its USP, the website aims to unleash the writer within us, by allowing users to post publicly, for friends and secretly for everyone to read and comment. Ideated by Srijan Srivastava from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, this site also lets users maintain a dairy of daily events. It gives options for maintaining an 'Open Diary' meant for everyone to read; a 'Personal Diary' exclusively for the user, and one for 'Friends' that can be shared with your buddies. It has lots of dairy entries and poems that cover a wide gamut of emotions and subjects. Interestingly, the website also maintains a 'Fun Facts' page where it mentions the number of page views, visits and authors (which is as high as 431) on the page. It has a following of 1,632 on its Facebook page where it actively posts poems and writings from its website. Though very basic and minimalist, this website is no less than a public blog with a few additions like an author poll and timely contests. But it does provide a platform for budding poets and helps nurture their hidden talents.
