A businessman from Mozambique makes his Bollywood debut after years of trying; a wealthy Indian industrialist follows his dream of becoming an actor; a talented actor trains Ranbir Kapoor for his role as a deaf-mute person in Barfi, but whose own debut feature flops because of inadequate marketing. If you are interested in reading about films, you are in for an encounter with all of these characters and more in Delhi based journalist and film buff Anna MM Vetticad's recently released book, The Adventures of an Intrepid Film Critic. Published by Om Books, the book's launch was held on Tuesday at the trendy new nightclub 'Skooter' at Hotel Samrat, Chanakyapuri.

Written as a part of a personal project where Vetticad resolved to review and blog every single Hindi film released in the year 2011, the book offers a glimpse into the changing face of Bollywood. By experiencing all 121 films and interviewing the people who made them, Vetticad documents in her book, an industry which despite being indentified by mainstream films, goes beyond them and is not limited to big stars and their personal egos. She also offers a glimpse into many beautiful small films which regularly disappear without a trace.

The book was launched by the ravishing Bollywood style icon, Sonam Kapoor, who looked as stunning as ever in a delicate off-white dress. An avid reader herself, Kapoor was truly impressed by the subject and depth of the book. "As an insider, the book is of immense interest to me, and is very informative about our entertainment industry. I have personally enjoyed reading it and recommend it to everyone interested in cinema, especially Bollywood," she said. The star studded evening was attended by many familiar faces such as industrialist Naveen Jindal, Sandeep Marwah, Dilip & Devi Cherian, Vani Tripathi, Stella Dupuis, Shefalee Vasudev, Seema Goswami, Ramola Bachchan, etc.

"Today's launch reflects everything that my book stands for — a serious discussion on cinema at a glitzy venue with a glamorous star. This mirrors the blend of glamour and gravitas that you will find in the all-encompassing view of contemporary Bollywood that I believe I'm giving you in The Adventures Of An Intrepid Film Critic," said a visibly delighted Vetticad.
